Shillawon Korean Restaurant

Shillawon Korean Restaurant is similar to Gyukaku, but with an authentic Korean flare. It is Korean BBQ at its finest and freshest. The best part is that they offer an all-you-can-eat buffet option where you can choose from a variety of meat and they will bring it straight to your BBQ grill and even cut the meat there for you before you cook it. If you love eating a great load of kalbi, chicken, steak, beef tongue, pork belly, and other delicious bites, then this restaurant is the choice for your any-day dining out.

This restaurant is located within a side street near the Ross in Ke'eaumoku Street around Ala Moana. The price per person if you decide to go with the buffet is $26 per person with free street parking or valet.

Have good 808 eats!

Asahi Grill

Another great eatery in the 808 state. Asahi Grill is located near Ala Moana, between Yogur Story and Sorabol. This restaurant serves up great tasting local food, ranging from loco mocos, poke bowls, fried boneless chicken, chicken katsu curry, and more. The only difference between this local eatery and others is that this one is set in a restaurant setting. The prices are basically the same as any other plate lunch place, so is the portion, and so is the taste (terrifically tasty).

Although they are well-known for their ox tail soup, I ordered the regular sized loco moco ($9), which goes great with Tabasco sauce. My friend ordered the poke bowl ($9), which isn't like any other poke bowl. It is a big bowl about the size of a ramen noodle bowl, filled with delicious delights.

Tenkaippin Ramen

Everyone has heard about Tenkaippin Ramen down in Kapahulu, but has everyone tried it?
If you haven't, then I suggest you do because it will be the best ramen you've ever tasted, for sure.

I ordered the Set A off the menu:
-Kotteri Ramen
-Fried Rice

The size of the meal is right, the price is reasonable ($13 for Set A), and the parking is free.
The fried rice is surprisingly just as tasty as the ramen itself. Both an explosion of flavor with ever bite.
Only downside is that the restaurant doesn't take credit card; only cash (not a big problem).

Brick Oven PIzza

Brick Oven Pizza over in Kapolei.

If you happen to be over in Kapolei, be sure to visit Brick oven Pizza. It will be a delicious trip, for sure. The restaurant has a sports bar look to it, with big HD TVs hanging on the walls displaying football or basketball games.

The food is mostly sports bar food, chicken wings, hot wings, pizza, beer, soda, and more.
What we ordered was the Super Pizza on wheat crust (small size) and BBQ wings.

Free parking, but the only downside is that we had to pay about $25 for the two orders.
Although expensive and in a sports bar atmosphere, the eats here are of gourmet quality; tasty and garnished to perfection.

Chodang Restaurant

Chodang is a Korean restaurant with the typical Korean restaurant menu, but with a convenient location, free easy-to-find parking, and easy-on-the-wallet price. They have a "value menu" on the front of the menu where most of the favorites are only $5 to $10.

What we ordered was Meat Jun ($5), Bi Bim Bap ($5), and hot Soft Tofu Soup ($5).
Of course, this is accompanied with tasty pupus.

Chodang Korean Restaurant is also open till 1am everyday except Sunday, in which they close at 11pm.

Hana Sushi

What does this restaurant serve?
Sushi!

From the name of the restaurant, it could be easily mistaken for the Hana Sushi in Hawaii Kai, but this restaurant is located in West Kapolei where the choice of eatries are bountiful.

They have an incredible deal during lunch (lunch special), $8 for a choice of three different types of lunch bentos:
Terriyaki Chicken
Chicken Katsu
Shrimp & Vegetable Tempura

Along with your choice of a main entree, you are accompanied by three pieces of California rolls, a bowl of rice, a helping of salad with house (delicious) dressing, miso soup, and rice tea.
What a combination! We threw in a order of Spicy Ahi Maki, which is a Spicy Tuna Roll ($6) along with our order of two Chicken Katsu lunch bentos.

I eat here about once every one or two weeks for lunch while I'm visiting Kapolei, it is an obvious destination for anyone with a big appetite for good 808 eats.

Liliha Bakery

Liliha Bakery has been serving me delicious food ever since I could remember (probably to the rest of Hawaii before I was born). The food here is terrific, and best of all they are open 24 hours a day; except Mondays and they close on Sundays around 7pm. Those scrumptious creme puffs make the perfect midnight snack on a cold rainy night.

This week, I enjoyed their amazing Loco Moco dish which comes with a side of butter toast (!!!!!) and a serving of pinkish jam. I have to be honest, the food here is not healthy at all, but it can sure put a smile on anyone's face. Liliha Bakery is seperated into two parts, the Coffee Shop (or Diner) and the Bakery. For dessert, walking two steps to the bakery won't help much to erase the title of "unhealthy" from their name.
